There isn’t a lot to say — it’s not “meant to be,” it’s just something that is very sad and tragic and I wish he had lived, but you are such a kind and gentle father and I know he must have benefited from your love, as do the people around you, as do people who read this story and want to remember the innocence and love of children and do more good in the world. Thank you for being able to somehow tell this story, which isn’t easy. Not all children live. (That’s the title of an essay that ran in the New York Times a few years ago when a father lost his 2-year-old; worth reading too.)
