Terrific piece. You weren’t comfortable with it — that says enough. You’re trying hard to justify your gut, which women often do, but deep down you knew it would have been risky to give him what he wanted. Still, he seems like a sweet soul and there’s a bit of melancholy in the story. Be gentle with yourself — you’re figuring out what you really need and not apologizing for it, and that’s good.
