Obviously what they meant was that they didn't need a man who conceals things from them and is only interested in what they can do for him. You've mentioned nothing about their personalities or your current partner's personality, so it sounds like your goal was to find friend with benefits, and that's fine -- but that's what you probably should have told them to begin with.
