I have noticed this type of crime ramping up this year and you did a wonderful job of explaining it succinctly in a way that anyone can relate to, as it's not an easy topic to write or talk about. There are a few more things that can help. Often, the word from law enforcement right after these crimes is "There's no danger to the public" and after a day or two, the coverage stops and people never find out things like, was there a restraining order in place, did people not report abuse when they should have, etc. It's often a hidden situation and people don't realize what's going on, and can't suggest legislation to protect the next family the next time. Yes there IS a danger to the public when these crimes are immediately covered up (Haight is an extreme case). The point about misogyny is true too. With the Tesla case, you can look online at the number of people online saying "Maybe the woman was doing this or that and that's why he acted this way."
